Hospital design/build construction
Proper radiation shielding in CT
rooms, X-ray rooms, and Cath Labs, is required to ensure a safe working
environment. Quality imaging in MRI suites can be affected by external
interferences such as electrical transformers, power lines, mechanical
devices, elevators etc.
The construction of these types of specialized rooms requires the skill
and expertise of professionals who have demonstrated the ability to
manage and overcome these challenges and potential risks. We have the
proven track record and have been exceeding our customer’s expectation
for over a decade.

quotation, GW has the resources to serve you. Our portfolio includes new
design build structures, as well as a variety of use specific additions.
Our services are not limited to new structures but also include complete
design build renovations to existing structures and facilities.
construction management
Construction Management is a system
specifically created to promote the successful execution of construction
projects for owners.
As the Construction Manager, Gibbs Wilson acts as the overseers of the
entire project, from inception to design to execution. The Construction
Manager holds an important role, as they identify and correct budget or
quality issues early in the design phase. The role as the manager
focuses on coordinating the different needs of project on a large scale.
As the construction manager we are responsible for maintaining the
relationship with all the contractors and subcontractors to ensure the
smooth and timely completion of a project. As well, the construction
manager arranges and maintains project relationships with the trade
contractors and designers associated with particular aspects of the
project, including setting timetables for the completion of certain
sections and resolving conflicts as they arise.
Beyond coordinating the internal workings of a project, the manager also
handle's external concerns. These include handling equipment and
materials suppliers, developing plans with local emergency and fire
departments for on-site safety, and risk management.
Gibbs Wilson Contracting delivers the service our clients expect and
deserve. Our knowledge of the entire construction process allows for a
better synchronicity with architects, designers and engineers. With

radiation shielding
With the constant improvement in diagnostic imaging equipment, Gibbs Wilson has kept up-to-date with the latest radiation shielding regulations and requirements. Typically, lead and leaded glass is used to create the radiation barrier and must be installed properly to ensure that there are no leaks, whether it be by screw penetrations or obstructions such as electrical outlets and med gas valves.
Over the years GW has developed techniques and procedures to meet these challenges in its quest to create a zero-leakage room.
RF shielding
A critical component of any MRI facility
is its RF cabin. Gibbs Wilson is a certified installer for ETS-Lindgren
RF enclosures in Canada, within the medical facility environment.
Cabin assembly is a process that requires skilled precision, in order to
install a shield that will filter out external interferences and provide
technicians with the best possible imaging.
As approved ETS-Lindgren’s agents, GW crews can provide new installations, test existing facilities, or execute repairs.
magnetic shielding
Magnetic shielding incorporates the use of
silicon steel to contain the pacemaker Gauss line limits within the MRI
space. Depending on the site conditions magnetic shielding installation
can be difficult due to weight factors and existing interferences.
Gibbs-Wilson has the equipment and expertise to install this type of
shield to the manufacturer’s specifications, ensuring a safe and
effective final barrier.
Gibbs-Wilson is qualified to construct procedure rooms that meet or
surpass Ministry of Health shielding requirements, providing a safe
environment for staff and patients. GW can assist your staff in
gathering site condition information required for MOH radiation
certification.
chillers
Gibbs Wilson has expanded its service base
to include the supply and installation of dedicated packaged or split
chilled water systems. GW can design site-specific systems to meet your
spatial and cooling requirements. We can design, manufacture and install
reliable equipment to satisfy a variety of dedicated chilled water
requirements.
Options available include packaged or self-contained units with manual
or automatic bypass panels that can be fully-integrated into BAS
systems. Units are available for purchase with leasing options available
on some model sizes.
rigging
Equipment delivery is not a simple issue
of rolling it down a hallway to its new home. Depending on the piece of
equipment, structural issues may have to be addressed along the
transport route as the weight of medical equipment can range from a few
hundred pounds to over eleven tonnes.
Gibbs Wilson has the expertise to evaluate each site’s unique
challenges, assessing the structural issues and the architectural
obstructions, providing the most cost-effective and least disruptive
solutions.
Delivery of medical equipment to your facility is a milestone moment
during the construction process. Whether delivery is through a door,
wall or rooftop, Gibbs Wilson has the experience to ensure that your
newly acquired asset is delivered safely to its final destination.
Fully-insured and well-equipped, Gibbs Wilson can solve your rigging
requirements.
