Lake lots and river flats
Christina Lake cabins often sit on sloped lots running down to the water. Decks, stairs and walls there have to handle the grade, and building close to the lake can bring extra rules, so we check before we start.
Grand Forks lies where the Kettle and Granby rivers meet. After the 2018 flood, a lot of owners are paying closer attention to drainage and grading around their homes.
The Boundary country is drier and warmer than Trail, which suits concrete work and long building seasons.
Permits
Grand Forks has its own building department, where walls over 1.2 m need an engineer's design. Christina Lake is in the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary, which issues permits there.
